This swamp totara Tewhatewha is absolutely beautifully made.
The tewhatewha was carved in Northland, New Zealand by a carver of Ngapuhi and Ngati Horahia descent.
He carved a Ngutu Kaka design into the head (rapa), representing the wairua (spirit) of the bearer/ owner.
The tewhatewha measures approximately 140.5cm (55 3/8') long, and is adorned with brown feathers.
This is a chiefly item, suitable for giving for a very special occasions. Suitable as a birthday gift as well as a special corporate or business occasion.
